Privacy Policy

Last updated: 2026-09-30. This policy covers SD Card Import, a macOS app for copying photos and videos from SD cards or selected source folders.

Data stored locally

Your settings, folder permissions, and import history stay on your Mac. The app uses these records to recognize files you have already imported.

Technical details

SD Card Import stores settings, folder permissions, import history, and duplicate-detection records locally on your Mac. It uses an App Group container shared with its card-detection helper and may also store preferences through macOS UserDefaults.

Optional import history on your card

This setting is off by default. If you enable it, the app saves a hidden import-history file on writable source cards or folders so another Mac can recognize files already copied. It contains no media contents, destination paths, or usernames. Read-only sources still work without writing this history.

Technical details

If you enable portable import receipts, the app creates or appends .sd-import/imported-v1.jsonl on writable sources. The hidden ledger contains versioned file fingerprints, relative source paths, sizes, modification and import timestamps, and validation checksums so another Mac can avoid duplicate imports. It does not contain destination paths, usernames, or media contents. The option is disabled by default, read-only sources continue without writing portable history, and ledger access refuses symbolic-link redirection outside the selected source.

Network use

Apple handles App Store downloads, updates, and purchases. Opening website links or feedback uses your browser or email app. SD Card Import does not upload your media.

App Store purchases

Apple processes purchases and restores access for SD Card Import. The app checks Apple’s verified purchase and access records to determine whether the 14-day trial or lifetime access is active. The trial starts on the date in the verified purchase record. We do not receive payment card details.

No automatic usage reports

SD Card Import does not automatically send usage reports, import history, media, folder lists, or crash reports to the developer. Diagnostic reports are exported only when you request them and may include folder names, paths, and error messages. Review them and remove private information before sharing. The app cannot browse system crash reports.

Support requests

When you email support, you choose which message and attachments to share through your email provider. Public GitHub issues are visible to everyone. Do not attach private photos, videos, full card dumps, credentials, or unredacted logs to public issues.
